I have known Tauna for more then a few years now and often work together doing data center builds as a side job. During our last build at Rumbas, I decided to do a small bio for her site. It seams for all the years she has owned her own domain she has never created a bio.

Tauna Iseli lives in a small city in Silicon Valley and has been in the IT field for over 15 years. Her career started in Salt Lake City UT. where she went to school for her degree in Computer Science. While in school she did her internship at Fox13 News while working for First Federal Bank. Tauna graduated in 2007, on the Dean list and second in her class. She soon moved to Portland OR. as a consultant doing Software Configuration Management but ended up working on the Y2K project for Nike, at their world headquarters in Beaverton OR. She was excited in May 1997 when Nike contacted her as they were establishing a corporate-wide project team to identify non-compliant software and complete the corrections or plans required to mitigate the year 2000 issue. In March 1999 Nike outsourced their IT department to Lockheed Martin. Like many others she decided to take a job with Time Warner Telecom where she stayed for the next year. In March 2000 she left the Portland rain for the Lake Merritt district in sunny downtown Oakland California. There she worked with medical company CMRI (California Medical Review) in the financial district of San Francisco. While working for CMRI they were recognized for successfully implemented measures to improve the quality of health care.

In 2003 she found out she was pregnant with twin boys two weeks after taking the job of VP of Operations for EO-Chat.com. After giving birth to her two son's Aaron & Eric she moved to the family friendly city where she lives today. When the company sold in 2006, she took a job at NetApp and was quickly promoted to Data Center Operations Manager. She managed the data center until April of 2008 when deciding to take a brake to spend time with her family. Durring her time at NetApp the data center was named the winner of the prestigious 2008 Green Enterprise IT Award from the Uptime Institute. They were also honored as the Best-In-Class Implementation in the category of IT Hardware Asset Utilization for transforming the data center to be more efficient and effective. Leading by example she worked hand in hand implementing innovative technology and design techniques by decommissioning old servers and replacing them with energy efficient blade servers. She removed machines and disks from their power equation and modified its power and cooling systems to optimize power efficiency. As a result, NetApp saved 41,184 kWh per month and more than $59,000 in electricity costs alone. Though no longer with NetApp the data center now exceeds the EPA’s energy usage state-of-the-art data center maximum achievable scenario.

In 2010 Tauna went back to work contracting as a data center engineer for Pro-Active Solutions. There she has lent a hand to the growth of many of Silicon Valley's data centers. She has worked with Microsoft,Yahoo, Kaiser Permanente, Ericsson, Robert Half International, E*Trade, Rambus, and Motorola. During her time with Pro-Active she met the great people at Robert Half International. A year after working on the Robert Half project they approached her with a Deskside Support III technician job, at their corporate office in Menlo Park. Robert Half knew she was wanting a good Work/Life balance, and they knew this job with fit. She enjoys her job doing MAC, Xserve, and NetApp support along with working directly with the executives & not working weekends.

In 2011 Tauna graduated with honors from the University of Phoenix. She now has a Bachelors in Information Security Science and it thinking of going back to get her Masters.
